Our pre-harvest party was held on the 4th of February in our Ulumbaza Bar(n), House of JOY. The event kicked off with our local Vineyard Supervisor, Jaack, who is also a priest, praying for and blessing this year’s harvest and vines. The reason for this celebration was to give thanks to God and Mother Nature for our harvest. We are grateful for each and every harvest and its diversity each year. The generosity of the grapes, the strong vineyards which bare them, the cool climate, the towering Klein River Mountain Range, the limestone-rich soils, our beautiful Springfontein terroir and of course our natural spring – without this- none of the above would be possible.
We wanted our harvest team, their family, friends and guests to gather to give thanks and celebrate the harvest to come.
A joyful evening of wine, good cheer, and a proper hearty South African braai was had. This was our first time hosting this event and we look forward to many more in the future.
Johst’s vision and mission to have like-minded people gather in this idyllic scenery to enjoy Mother Nature and all that she has to offer – great wine, food and friendship was surely met at this event, in our Ulumbaza ‘House of Joy’.
