Walker Bay Region

Walker Bay is a large bay located on the south-western coast of South Africa. The coastline of the region runs along the cold Atlantic Ocean making it a cool climate viticultural area with temperate conditions. Also situated in the Walker Bay region is the whale watching capital of the world, Hermanus, where the Southern Right Whales spend their annual breaks frolicking about in the Bay during the winter and spring months.

Village of Stanford

The picturesque village of Stanford, the home of Springfontein Wine Estate, is situated on the banks of the Klein River, approximately 25 km outside Hermanus (direction Gansbaai). The village dates back to the 1800's and holds much historical intrigue. Surrounded by indigenous Fynbos and panoramic mountain views, and nestled between the Klein River and the Atlantic Ocean, its serene beauty is any nature lover's (or even city slicker's) delight.
